General maintenance around the house includes caulking. Most caulks only last for a couple of years. This is a simple procedure that can save you hundreds of dollars in wood rot that could be avoided by simply taking a Saturday morning, scraping the old caulk out of the joints and applying the new. When this is not done wood rot and dollars in repair are the results. We often find in the home inspection industry the results of not doing this simple maintenance job!
